Comparison of short-term light disturbance, optical and visual performance outcomes between a myopia control contact lens and a single-vision contact…

2020

Purpose To compare the optical and visual performance of a dual-focus (DF) contact lens used for myopia control with a single-vision (SV) contact lens of the same material. Methods A randomised, double-masked crossover study. Twenty-eight healthy, myopic volunteers between 18 and 32 years of age (23.49 +/- 4.07 years) participated in this study. The sensory dominant eye for distance vision was determined. Refraction, best-corrected visual acuity (VA) and aberrations for 3 mm and 5 mm pupil diameters were quantified without a contact lens in situ. Subjects were fitted with two contact lens designs: DF and SV, both made of omafilcon A material. The Quality of Vision (QoV) questionnaire, over-…

2015

[EN] Purpose: To introduce a new application (ClinicCSF) to measure Contrast Sensitivity Function (CSF) with tablet devices, and to compare it against the Functional Acuity Contrast Test (FACT). Methods: A total of 42 subjects were arranged in two groups of 21 individuals. Different versions of the ClinicCSF (.v1 and .v2) were used to measure the CSF of each group with the same iPad and the results were compared with those measured with the FACT. The agreements between ClinicCSF and FACT for spatial frequencies of 3, 6, 12 and 18 cycles per degree (cpd) were represented by Bland---Altman plots. Results: Statistically significant differences in CSF of both groups were found due to the change…

Vigor F7 projekta ietekme uz redzes funkcijām

2017

Bilateral implantation of the Acri.LISA bifocal intraocular lens in myopic eyes.

2009

Purpose To asses visual quality after bilateral implantation of the Acri.LISA 366D intraocular lens (IOL) (Carl Zeiss Meditec) in patients with high and low–moderate myopia. Methods A total of 304 eyes of 152 patients had bilateral implantation of the Acri.LISA 366D IOL. The patients were divided into 2 groups: low–moderate myopia (IOL power from 15 to 20.5 D) and high myopia (IOL power from 0 to 14.5 D). Monocular and binocular best-corrected distance visual acuity (BCVA) and best distance-corrected near visual acuity (BCNVA), binocular best distance-corrected intermediate visual acuity (BCIVA), and distance contrast sensitivity (OS) under photopic (85 cd/m2) and mesopic (5 cd/m2) conditio…

The posterior chamber phakic refractive lens (PRL): a review

2012

Implantation of phakic intraocular lenses (pIOLs) is a reversible refractive procedure, preserving the patient’s accommodative function with minimal induction of higher order aberrations compared with corneal photoablative procedures. Despite this, as an intraocular procedure, it has potential risks such as cataracts, chronic uveitis, pupil ovalization, corneal endothelial cell loss, pigmentary dispersion syndrome, pupillary block glaucoma, astigmatism, or endophthalmitis. Currently, only two models of posterior chamber pIOLs are commercially available, the implantable collammer lens (STAAR Surgical Co.) and the phakic refractive lens (PRL; Zeiss Meditec). The number of published reports on…

Retinal Straylight Before and After Penetrating Keratoplasty in an Eye with a Post-Herpetic Corneal Scar

2008
